Rules & Guidelines

Welcome to the Las Angeles AI Film Festival! To ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all participants, please review the following rules and guidelines before submitting your work or participating in the festival.

Eligibility

  • Submissions must be original works that incorporate or explore artificial intelligence as part of the filmmaking process, theme, or subject matter.

  • Films can include any genre, such as narrative, documentary, animation, experimental, or short films.

  • Films must not exceed 30 minutes in runtime, including credits.

Submission Requirements

  • All films must be submitted in digital format, with high-quality MP4 or MOV files and a resolution of at least 1920x1080 (HD).

  • Films must be in English or include English subtitles.

  • Submitted works must be completed after January 1, 2023.

  • Works-in-progress or sample cuts will not be accepted.

  • A brief description of how artificial intelligence was utilized in the filmmaking process (if applicable) must be included with the submission.

Selection Process

  • All films will be reviewed by a professional jury composed of filmmakers, AI experts, and industry leaders.

  • The jury’s decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

Screening and Promotion

  • By submitting a film, the participant grants the festival the right to screen the film during the event.

  • The festival reserves the right to use excerpts, stills, and promotional materials from the submitted works for marketing and publicity purposes.

Participation Rules

  • Participants are expected to maintain professionalism, respect, and inclusivity throughout the festival.

  • The festival reserves the right to disqualify any participant for inappropriate behavior.

Deadlines

  • Submission deadlines will be announced on the official festival website.

  • Late submissions will not be accepted unless explicitly approved by the festival committee.

Copyright & Ownership

  • All copyright and intellectual property rights remain with the filmmaker.

  • Participants must ensure that all submitted content, including music, visuals, and other materials, does not infringe on any third-party copyrights or intellectual property rights.
